recovering from his wounds. Tomoney had attended a lodge meeting and had been raising a rough house. Robinson went to the home to get Officer Skipper to arrest the negro. Mr. Skipper was accompanied by his nephew, Mr. G.W. Skipper and his son "Jack" Skipper, and Robinson.
After Tomoney had emptied his automatic pistol into the crowd, he walked away evidently with the intention of refilling the gun and to begin shooting again should anyone attempt to approach him. It was then that someone shot him in the back. There seems to be none who knows who did it.
James Shivers, colored, who is said to have been implicated in the affair, was arrested at the foot of Red Cross street yesterday morning by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds on a warrant from the Brunswick authorities charging him with carrying concealed weapons. The negro was taken to Southport last night by Mr. G.W. Skipper who has been in the city for several days.
The body of Tomoney was taken to his home in Brunswick County on the afternoon train yesterday.
